Tea of the Day- Oregon Breakfast Black Tea from Plum Deluxe

IMG_4880

Be warned. . I’m going to get kinda mushy here for a second.

I kinda like this guy I’m in the picture with.   He turned my life from a hot mess to an amazing and happy life.  We have this connection that I have always wanted. He is my best friend and I am happy we are spending our lives together.   We really are each others Yin and Yang.  Why am I talking about my boyfriend Jason? Because he made a huge declaration today that I had to share.

Every night Jason and I share at least one pot of tea.  We talk about what we like about the tea and what we don’t like.  It is about the only us time we get each day since we do have 4 kids between the two of us.  So he has had a variety of teas from greens to whites. . herbals to weird odd teas that I have found here and there.

Today he had Plum Deluxe’s Oregon Breakfast Black Tea. And he declared this tea to be the Best Tea Ever.  That is a pretty huge statement for him.  He is the opposite of me and is very soft spoken but when he says something, he means it.

I have always loved the care and passion that Plum Deluxe puts in their teas and this one may be the best one I’ve had from them. This tea you can tell has been crafted with love for you.  I am very glad this is one of their offerings  on their shop and not a monthly tea that once its gone. . .its gone kind of deal.  Lets chat about Jason’s favorite tea ever. . .

Where to buy:  Plum Deluxe Tea Shop

Info on the tea:  Oregon Breakfast Blend- This breakfast tea is how Plum Deluxe folk like to start their day. The earthy base helps center you; the ping of orange helps wake you and get you excited about today’s possibilities. It’s a simple tea & yet it is rich with subtle flavors. Hazelnut – in its oil essence form – has tons of great anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant benefits, as well as vitamin E. Paired with some orange, you’re getting a true boost from this tea in every cup.

~The Good

Jason is right. . this tea is outstanding.  Brewed hot, I am getting the rich nutty hazelnut goodness that gives you the warm fuzzies that a really good tea gives you.  The black tea base and honeybush just add to the creaminess and give the tea an almost hazelnut & cream kind of taste.  The honeybush also sweetens the tea just a touch.  This would be a fantastic tea to froth up some milk and make into a latte to really drive that creamy flavor out.  I am not picking up any of the orange notes but that could be just me needing to shake the bag up or maybe try a cold brew pitcher.  Since this is Jason’s ultimate favorite, I hate to waste any cold brewing it.

~The Bad

Not picking up the orange flavor is the only bad note I can find with this tea. Jason wanted more so I infused the tea a second time.  He said he still didn’t get any orange but the hazelnut, tho muted, was still delicious to him.  I didn’t want to push this for a third infusion since typically two infusions is the max for a flavored black tea.  At least that has been my experience.  I can’t really say I want the orange flavor to pop (I’m not sure about the hazelnut orange combo) but I would like to try it.  I just asked Andy to add an ounce of this tea to my next shipment.  Maybe if Jason will let me, I will experiment more and see if I can get those orange notes to come mingle with the hazelnut flavor.

Plum Deluxe is one of my favorite tea companies.  I know I have said this before.  Their customer service is top notch and their products are crafted with love, care and passion.  You can tell from sip one. I have had a few “off” experiences with tea companies as of late when I am trying to purchase products from them.  The fact that Andy responds back so quickly  and doesn’t mind my inquisitive self speaks volumes.  I really wish other tea companies (big and small) would take a note from his and the rest of the crew at Plum Deluxe’s playbook.

Ok. . I will get off my soapbox here and talk more about this incredible company-Plum Deluxe.

So I am going to just let Andy the owner of Plum Deluxe (taken from their about us page) talk about how this company started.  This is a very touching story and just makes me love this company more.  I really hope you take a moment to read this and give this company a chance.  I think you will be happy with the teas/products you receive and the customer service that they pride themselves on.

Their Motto is Slow Down. Make Moments that Matter.  Very Good Advice.

A note from our founder, Andy Hayes…

I truly believe Plum Deluxe is my life’s purpose. My mission in creating the Plum Deluxe community is to share the story and lessons I learned from my mother, Pam.

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 59. The subsequent 5 years of her life while she battled the disease were some of the best years of her life. She took the opportunity for self-care days and spa treatments, to keep her spirits up. She went out to dinner parties with friends to celebrate each day, and went to the gym regularly and became very fit. She laughed more. She traveled more – visiting her favorite city, Paris, and finally visiting the town her family was from in Germany.

My mom taught me that no matter your circumstances, you can choose to create moments that matter, every day.

Plum Deluxe is here to help you decide what kinds of moments are important to you – in order for you to live a life you love. All of the free articles and resources available on Plum Deluxe are financially supported by our line of signature, organic tea blends – please consider making a purchase or gift purchase.
